New to Scouting?: This is a formal ceremony celebrating our most advanced Cub Scouts as they complete their journey in Cub Scouting.

BIKE – San Antonio Mission Trail
What We Do: Ride the safe, motor-free Mission Reach Bike Trail in San Antonio. This fun biking event is perfect for all levels, and families can choose how far they want to ride. Bring your bike, helmet, water, and snacks. We will meet afterward at Laguna Madre for those interested
What to Wear: Pack 18 yellow T-shirt and helmet (required for all bikers).

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed for purchasing supplies, managing medical forms, leading hikes, and compiling photos. Please contact leadership if you can assist!
What We Do: Join Pack 18 for an unforgettable week exploring Big Bend National Park! Scouts and their families will experience a range of activities, from hiking iconic trails like Santa Elena Canyon to swimming in the Rio Grande. Throughout the week, we’ll participate in nature hikes, camp at various scenic sites, and enjoy the beauty of Texas' most majestic landscape.
What to Wear: Class A uniform during travel, yellow Pack 18 T-shirt for activities.
Details:
Entrance Fees: National Park fees are $30 per car. Fourth graders get a free pass through the Every Kid Outdoors program at everykidoutdoors.gov. National Park Annual Passes are available for $80.
Weather & Terrain: Prepare for varying weather conditions and rough terrain. Pack accordingly with essential items such as clothing, shoes, chapstick, duct tape, and sunscreen.
Gear: Be sure to bring a daypack, water, snacks, rain gear, and a flashlight. No campfires are allowed in Big Bend. Showers are available at Rio Grande Village (coin-operated).
Safety: Store food properly in bear boxes, and note that the park has a strict 45 mph speed limit. Gas is available only at Panther Junction and Rio Grande Village within the park.

Blue & Gold Banquet
What We Do: Celebrate the birthday of Scouting with feasting, food, games, awards, and fun. Pinewood Derby awards will be presented at the event. Extended Families are encouraged to attend. The theme this year is “Chuckwagon Supper.” The pack will provide brisket. Families are asked to sign up to bring a salad, side dish, or drink to share.
What to Wear: Class A uniform for Scouts and leaders.
New to Scouting?: This is one of the biggest events of the year, and a great chance to learn more about our pack’s traditions and celebrate with us!
Big Bend Parent Meeting - Strategy Sesh
What We’ll Cover:
Logistics: Travel plans, schedules, and campsite details.
Meals: Menu planning, dietary needs, and food preparation.
Paperwork: Training, medical forms, and registrations.
Parent Roles: ways to help make this event a success.
This meeting is your chance to ask questions, share ideas, and get excited about all the fun and memories we’ll be making at Big Bend. One adult from each registered family must attend.
Scout Sunday
What We Do: Scout Sunday is a nationwide event celebrating the contributions of young people and adult leaders to Scouting, as well as their involvement in their faith communities. Scouts will participate in a special services all over town, serving as greeters, ushers, and assisting in various parts of the service. This event highlights the Scout Oath's commitment to duty to God and reverence.
What to Wear: Full Class A uniform for all Scouts and leaders.
New to Scouting?: Scout Sunday is a great opportunity for families and friends to see Scouts in action, supporting their local community and reinforcing the connection between Scouting and their faith. If you don’t have a regular place of worship, you’re welcome to come to FUMC. Scouts should arrive early to help with service preparations. Families are encouraged to attend and celebrate this special occasion with the pack.
Pinewood Derby Race
What We Do: Scouts race their hand-built Pinewood Derby cars. It’s a fun-filled day of competition, creativity, and camaraderie.
What to Wear: Class A uniform for the event.
New to Scouting?: Join us to cheer on the Scouts and see what the excitement is all about!
Details: Event starts at 9:00 AM. Car check-in and impound will be held the evening before (Friday, January 31).
Pinewood Derby Impound
Get Your Cars Ready for Race Day!
Bring your car to the FUMC Parish Hall.
Weigh-In: Your car will be weighed to ensure it meets the 5-ounce maximum limit.
Inspection: We’ll check the car’s dimensions and ensure it adheres to official Pinewood Derby rules.
Registration: Name your car We will enter you in the race and you’ll be officially impounded.
Final Adjustments: If your car needs small tweaks, we’ll have tools on hand to help you get it race-ready.
Important: After the impound, cars will remain in our care until race day. We’ll see you at the starting line.

What We Do: Join Pack 18 as we honor our veterans by marching in the Veterans' Day Parade! This is a special opportunity for our Scouts to show their respect and appreciation for those who have served our country. As we march through town, our Scouts will proudly carry the American flag, wave to the crowd, and represent the values of Scouting. It’s a meaningful experience that instills patriotism and community spirit in our young Scouts.
What to Wear: Scouts should wear their full Class A uniform, including their neckerchief and belt. This is a formal event, and we want to present ourselves in the best way possible as we honor our veterans.
New to Scouting? If you’re new or visiting for the first time, this is a great event to see our pack in action and witness the pride our Scouts take in community service. You're welcome to join us and see how Scouting teaches important values like respect and citizenship.

Fall Family Campout
What We Do:
Join us for a fun-filled weekend of outdoor adventure at Palmetto State Park! This fall campout will include hiking, cooking, and classic Cub Scout games. We’ll also gather for a special evening campfire program, where scouts can share stories, sing songs, and roast marshmallows under the stars. Palmetto also offers kayaking and paddle boarding.
What You Should Wear:
The weather should be great for this one. Scouts could wear their Class A uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies, and Class B (pack t-shirts) for daytime activities.
What If You’re a New Camper?
If this is your first campout with our Pack, welcome! We’re thrilled to have you. Don’t worry if you’re new to camping—our friendly families are here to help. The pack brings a camp kitchen and most of the food, so you really just have to pack sleeping gear.
Use our packing list to make sure you’re good to go.
There is a registration fee for all campers aged 4 and over to cover campsite fees, activity materials, and pack-provided meals.

What We Do: Pack meetings are where all the dens in Pack 18 come together for a fun-filled evening of recognition and celebration. During these meetings, we recognize Scouts for their achievements, hand out awards, and celebrate the hard work they’ve put into earning new badges. Each pack meeting also includes engaging group activities, games, and sometimes a special guest or presentation. It’s a chance for the entire pack to bond and for families to see their Scouts shine.
What to Wear: Scouts should wear their full Class A uniform to pack meetings. This is a special event where we celebrate their accomplishments, so we want everyone looking their best!
