What We Do: Join Pack 18 for an unforgettable week exploring Big Bend National Park! Scouts and their families will experience a range of activities, from hiking iconic trails like Santa Elena Canyon to swimming in the Rio Grande. Throughout the week, we’ll participate in nature hikes, camp at various scenic sites, and enjoy the beauty of Texas' most majestic landscape.

What to Wear: Class A uniform during travel, yellow Pack 18 T-shirt for activities.

Details:

  • Entrance Fees: National Park fees are $30 per car. Fourth graders get a free pass through the Every Kid Outdoors program at everykidoutdoors.gov. National Park Annual Passes are available for $80.

  • Weather & Terrain: Prepare for varying weather conditions and rough terrain. Pack accordingly with essential items such as clothing, shoes, chapstick, duct tape, and sunscreen.

  • Gear: Be sure to bring a daypack, water, snacks, rain gear, and a flashlight. No campfires are allowed in Big Bend. Showers are available at Rio Grande Village (coin-operated).

  • Safety: Store food properly in bear boxes, and note that the park has a strict 45 mph speed limit. Gas is available only at Panther Junction and Rio Grande Village within the park.
